About This Place

Nuevo Jardín de China is a vibrant culinary gem nestled in the heart of Astoria, NY, masterfully blending the rich flavors of Cuban and Chinese cuisines into an unforgettable dining experience. This unique restaurant invites diners into a cozy, lively setting where you can savor authentic dishes that pay homage to two distinct cultural traditions, seamlessly intertwined on one menu.

The highlight of Nuevo Jardín de China is undoubtedly its masterful fusion of classic dishes. Imagine tucking into a steaming bowl of rich, flavorful Wonton Soup or the perfect balance of heat and sweetness in their Kung Pao Chicken, each bite delivering bold, aromatic spices that dance on your palate. For those craving hearty Cuban flavors, the Oxtail Stew offers deeply satisfying, slow-cooked tenderness, melting effortlessly, accompanied by perfectly crisp Maduros and golden Yuca Frita. The duality of the menu shines with dishes like Bistec De Palomilla Con Arroz Chino, delivering juicy, savory Cuban steak alongside delicate, fried rice infused with subtle hints of squid ink and shrimp—each forkful a testament to the chef’s artistry.

Nuevo Jardín de China doesn’t just fill your stomach; it fills your senses. The crispy crunch of Chicharron De Pollo pairs beautifully with the tangy, refreshing burst of a hand-crafted Pina Colada or a smooth, expertly mixed martini. The aromatic, spicy warmth of the Hot and Sour Soup complements the indulgent allure of flaky, bacon-topped baked clams, evoking a tantalizing contrast that keeps guests coming back. Ending your meal with a velvety, caramelized Flan is like the perfect final note in a symphony of flavors.

The ambiance here is intimate yet energetic—the smaller, lighter space creates a comfortable, inviting atmosphere perfect for family gatherings, casual nights out, or celebrating special moments. Friendly staff add a warm, attentive touch, often remembered by repeat guests for their enthusiastic recommendations and genuine hospitality. As one regular customer, George Maniatopoulos, sums it up, “We’ve always left... satisfied full, and sometimes drunk. This place is great.”

Whether you're in the mood for Cuban soul food classics or crave the exciting flavors of Chinese fare, Nuevo Jardín de China delivers a harmonious dining experience that is rare to find. This is a place where culinary boundaries dissolve, and every dish tells a story of cultural richness, bold tastes, and heartfelt passion for great food.

I’ve been there many many many many times We’ve always left from that store, satisfied full, and sometimes drunk. This place is great. Their food is on point and anybody who does not like their food is just a hater. I think I’m gonna do Christmas Day there

Family go-to for years. Along with the other location on Junction Blvd. I prefer this location more. A bit smaller but lighter ambiance. Plus it's walking distance for me. Which helps fight off the fried rice calories. If your group is having trouble picking a place to go eat. You can't go wrong with Cuban Chinese. This is a fine example of that. At a price just a bit more than a take out spot. Great service with a large group or even when you just go alone for lunch. If I could change something it would be to use dark meat for the general tso's but it's still my regular order. Just get the special friend rice and homemade ice tea. Great with pretty much anything you order here.

Best Chinese food outside of Chinatown! The tasty food is definitely the star but the friendly staff and comfortable booths make it fun place to be. Full Chinese menu and Spanish/Cuban menu - both cuisines done to perfection. Great place to go even for cocktails and appetizers. I recommend pina colada, mojito, margarita and any rum drink; martinis are made to perfection. The higher prices get you better quality food, generous portions and all the extras. First class in all areas. While I love Neuvo Jardin for the delicious food, I have come to rely on this friendly spot for a much needed cocktail and some tasty appetizers. It may be a refreshing mojito, a festive rum drink or an elegant martini. It is the perfect way to start the week or enjoy a mid-week treat and let's not forget the weekends!! Cheers to the best restaurant on Broadway!!

If you want the best service and delicious food, frequent Nuevo Jardin and experience the most divine combination of both worlds. Take the recommendations of the staff and your meal will be top notch. We loved the oxtail stew, squid ink rice with shrimp, short beef ribs, Chilean sea bass, tostones and sweet plantains with salad and cheesy bread to start and flan to end. The team here will remember you and treat you like family. My family and I love Nuevo Jardin.

Excellent food and incredible service. I went with a group to celebrate a birthday and the staff was so kind and thoughtful! Menu is extensive and has something for everyone. Dishes can be ordered individually or share-style. We shared and all our dishes were great- calamari and oxtail were extra delicious! For a casual restaurant at an affordable price point, we really appreciated some of the extra bells and whistles like complimentary wonton crackers and bread. The food arrived at a steady pace so there was always something hot, and they changed our plates between apps and entrees. They let us bring in a birthday cake. They let us split the check multiple ways too. You can go to a trendy restaurant with fussy rules and time limits where "everything comes as it's ready" so they can turn the table, or you can come here and be treated with warmth and hospitality and great food.
